Reindeer Farm

There's a reindeer farm up in Palmer that I've seen mentioned on the "Things to do" list and thought it would be fun to take the boys. After all, who doesn't love reindeer?

Since it is October, they were having Halloween themed events - hay rides, pumpkin patches, haunted houses, characters, and more!

Well the "pumpkin patch" was probably a warning sign, but I figured maybe people just went crazy for the pumpkins...

It really wasn't at all what I was imagining. I was thinking red barns, decorations, reindeer roaming around in big open pastures... Maybe I was overly optimistic, but it was a bit of a letdown for me. But I've decided that part of being a good parent is finding fun in less than ideal situations, so I tried!

Right off the bat, we ran into a friend from tumbling class! And what a coincidence, they were wearing the exact same jacket! (Yay for awesome & affordable kids jackets from Costco!) Xander actually looked at the camera and smiled for me - Thomas was playing coy... Shocking!

This old tractor was being used for hay rides when it broke down. They had intended to tow it off, but it quickly became a huge attraction for the kids. Thomas was super excited about the tractor!

Look at him steering that big 'ole thing - such intense concentration requires him to stick his tongue out. (That's genetic...)

By far his favorite part was when he spotted this trio. He caught on right away that it was Anna! Not sure he cared about the Sven or Kristoff, but he was super excited about Anna. I know it's hard to tell here, but he kept asking about her the rest of the day. :)

Thomas, Reindeer.

Reindeer, this is Thomas.

He wasn't too sure about the reindeer. I wasn't too sure about pushing a stroller around an active reindeer pen, but I was committed at that point... Once I let Thomas sit in it, he did not want to get out. Apparently he was nice and cozy with his hands in his pockets!

Henry wasn't too sure either. Aren't they cute in their coordinated jackets and Monster hats, though??

Heather tried to get a cute photo with Thomas and this was the best she got. Toddlers...

All-in-all we made a fun day of it, but I can't see us going back anytime soon. The zoo is way closer and more fun! :)
